University of Minnesota Workforce Investment Act (WIA)-Certified
Programs, Certificates, and Courses

The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) is a comprehensive federal program designed to assist underemployed or unemployed citizens with tuition and fees for WIA-approved educational programs, certificates, and degrees. The University of Minnesota has received WIA certification for many of the bachelor, master, and certificate programs available on the Digital Campus. Additional programs are expected to be WIA-certified shortly.

After selecting a WIA-approved program, contact your nearest State of Minnesota Workforce Center to request WIA support for your career retraining. Let them know about the Digital Campus programs that you feel would be a good fit with your career objectives.

Bachelor's Degrees

Applied Health
The Bachelor of Applied Health degree is targeted to working professionals in the health industry seeking to complete a Bachelor’s degree.

Business
The Bachelor of Science in Business Management (BSB) is designed to prepare graduates for management positions in business firms, institutions, small businesses, and other organizations.

Clinical Lab Sciences (Hybrid)
The (CLS) program prepares majors for a variety of careers. CLS graduates from the University of Minnesota work in hospital laboratories, as well as governmental, research, forensic, and industrial laboratories.

Manufacturing Management
The Bachelor of Manufacturing Management (BMM) is designed to overlay a two-year technical college degree with management-related coursework, providing opportunities for working adults to advance to management and supervisory positions.

Applied Studies
The bachelor of science degree program in Applied Studies is designed to meet individual needs. Students work extensively with academic advisors to develop an individually custom-built program of study.

Choosing the University of Minnesota Digital Campus

The University of Minnesota is one of the nation’s top research universities, and the Digital Campus is the gateway to all the University's digital and distributed educational offerings. These offerings include online credit and non-credit courses as well as community-based face-to-face learning opportunities throughout the State of Minnesota. The online programs are accredited, equivalent to the on-campus degree programs, and conferred by the Regents of the University of Minnesota.
